Discovery Flight FAQs:
- What exactly is a Discovery Flight? - It’s about an hour-long introductory flight. Under the supervision of a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), you will have the opportunity to handle the controls and fly the airplane.
- Do I need any prior experience or a medical certificate? - No. A discovery flight is designed for absolute beginners. You don't need a medical certificate or any ground school knowledge. All you need is a desire to fly.
- Is it safe? - Safety is our core mission. You will be flying with a highly trained instructor in a meticulously maintained aircraft. We follow strict FAA regulations, and if the weather isn't perfect, we simply reschedule.
- Can I bring a friend or family member along? - Yes! Each aircraft has weight/balance limits that will need to be considered. We can often fit one passenger in the back seat to take photos while you fly at no extra charge.
- Does this time count toward my Pilot License? - Yes! We will give you a logbook, and your instructor will sign off on your first entry. If you decide to continue training, this flight counts toward the flight time requirements for your Private Pilot Certificate.
- What should I wear? - Wear close toed shoes and comfortable, seasonal clothing. Sunglasses are highly recommended. It can be bright up there!
- What happens if the weather is bad? - If the ceiling is too low or the winds are too high for a first-time experience, we’ll call you to reschedule. We want your first flight to be enjoyable and experience you will never forget.
